Introducing Our New Houseplant Care Guidelines!

Here at Cavacini Garden Center in Pittsburgh, PA, we're always striving to make plant care easier and more accessible for our customers. That's why we're thrilled to introduce our new houseplant care guidelines, designed to help you keep your indoor greenery thriving and healthy.

Gone are the days of guessing how much sunlight your plants need or how often to water them. Now, with our innovative pot stake system, caring for your houseplants is as easy as can be.

Sunlight Requirements:

Our houseplants have varying sunlight needs, and our new guidelines make it simple to understand. Each pot stake features one of these icons:

Full Sun: Perfect for plants that thrive in direct sunlight.

Part Sun or Filter Light: Ideal for plants that prefer a mix of sunlight and shade.

Shaded or Low Light: Great for plants that thrive in dimly lit areas.

No more guessing games about where to place your plants for optimal sunlight!

Watering Requirements:

Keeping your plants properly hydrated is crucial for their health. Our pot stakes take the guesswork out of watering with easy-to-understand droplet icons:

One Droplet: Indicates plants that require low water; allowing the soil to completely dry out between watering.

Two Droplets: Signals plants that need moderate water. Thoroughly wet the soil and allow at least the top 1” of soil mix to completely dry before watering again. This category has the most variability and our Houseplant Specialists can further discuss your selection while you’re at the Garden Center.

Three Droplets: Reserved for plants that require regular watering and prefer to stay evenly moist, avoiding drying out completely. Remember, no plant likes to be waterlogged for any length of time.

Using our watering guidelines will help you achieve success with your new houseplant. For even more consistency with watering, our simple, inexpensive moisture meter is a great tool to take the guesswork out of your watering habits.

Pet Toxicity:

For many plant lovers, ensuring their indoor greenery is safe for their furry friends is a top priority. That's why we've included pet toxicity information in our plant care guidelines:

A skull and crossbones indicate plants that are toxic to most cats and dogs, ensuring pet owners can keep their beloved animals safe. Alternatively, a paw print with a checkmark designates plants that are safe for pets, giving peace of mind to pet owners who want to enjoy their houseplants without worry.

At Cavacini Garden Center, we're committed to making plant care accessible and enjoyable for everyone.
